Dear Caring American,

How would you like to meet Jesus, Jeremiah, and Job?

Yes, those prophets are gone. But at ACJT we think they live again in Israel and the West Bank today.

We believe that Naim Ateek is a present-day mirror of Jesus. He is the founder and director of Sabeel, the Palestinian Liberation Theology Center.

Our contemporary Jeremiah is Jeff Halper, the founder and director of ICAHD, the Israel Committee Against House Demolitions.

And Job is alive and well in the amazing vitality of Mordechai Vanunu, who spent 18 years in jail, 12 of those years in so litary confinement for telling the world about Israel’s nuclear program.

Come to Israel and the West Bank with ACJT. You will get to know these three models of full humanity for the 21st Century.  They are leaders of a large majority in The Holy Land who oppose Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.

N.B.: Don’t fret that this tour might have an anti-Semitic bias. Fully 70% of Israeli Jews oppose the occupation. That’s right. 70% of Israelis think Israel should withdraw ALL of its settlements from the Palestinian Territories.

Included in our itinerary will be visits with leaders of Israel’s democracy, the Knesset in Tel Aviv. We will go from there to Jerusalem to meet with a doctor, a lawyer and a business leader. Each of them is an Israeli Jew. You will also have conversations with Jewish settlers within the walls of Efrat, one of the major settlements in the West Bank. Others we will meet with are:

Sam Bahour, a Palestinian who recently completed an American scale shopping mall in Ramallah! He is also one of the premiere literary correspondents on Middle-East issues.

Hagai El-Ad, Director of B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories.

Yonatan Shapira, former Captain in the elite Israeli Black Hawk helicopter squadron and son of an Israeli Air Force pilot, also a hero of the 1967 Six Day War. Yonatan is the author and co-signer along with 26 other pilots of the Pilot’s Letter declaring their refusal to participate in aerial attacks on populated areas in Palestine.

Probably most importantly, you will also spend quality time with every-day Israelis and Palestinians, people like you and me …average people who believe we are all children of God.

Would you believe that Jerusalem is a most important place for understanding and dealing with the threat we face from ISIS? We believe it is. We invite you to join us in the land and see if you agree.

A great theologian says that Jerusalem is the architectonic navel of the universe because its history is so closely entwined with the world’s three mono-theistic religions. ACJT posits that it is now also at the geo-political center of the world. Some of you identify yourselves as religious. Others of you prefer to call yourselves spiritual. Some of you claim no religious affiliation at all. No matter where you place yourself we at ACJT are convinced you will be profoundly inspired by your trip to The Holy Land.

Come with us and practice being Christ-like in the place that Jesus practiced it!

Your travel, food, and lodging expenses will be tax deductible. ACJT is an IRS approved, 501 (c) (3) educational non-profit corporation. That means the entire cost of the trip (around $2000 for a 10-day experience) is tax qualified.

There are several up-coming opportunities for you. You may choose to come with us next summer and participate in a home-rebuilding project organized by Jeff Halper.

The optimum time-frame to experience all we have planned for you is 10 days. These trips will center on the above dates. But if you can get away for only 4 or 5 days we can accommodate that. On the other hand, if you can give three weeks for a little more in-depth experience we will be there to support that also.

Obviously, the longer period will allow for some wonderfully nourishing time at historically significant places including Jericho, Jenin, and Jaffa; Megiddo, Madaba, and Magdala; and Cana and the Qumran Caves.

I will accompany you and be your guide for these trips. Whenever you choose to go, I guarantee you will have one of the most nourishing, spirit-healing experiences of your life.

Please consider this opportunity carefully. And if you cannot join with us this time, please share this information with someone who may be able to.

Shalom/salaam/peace,
John
